Everything that would waste their first morning if it were missing: contract signed, payroll set up, laptop delivered and working, accounts created, building access or remote setup ready, and a plan for the first day sent ahead. The "Before the start date" section lists these.
It depends on the country and sometimes the state: identity and right-to-work checks, tax forms, contracts and registration with social security or similar. This list has one item for it on purpose. Follow your government’s employer guidance or your HR or payroll provider, and add their steps as items.
Clear expectations, people to ask and one piece of real work. Explain the role and how it is reviewed, book short introductions, give a task small enough to finish, and end the week with a check-in about what is still unclear.
Edit this template once to match your company, then press Duplicate for each new hire and rename the copy with their name and start date. Each copy is saved separately on this device.

Yes. Press Print for a clean sheet to bring to the first meeting.
Edit an item and add the owner at the end, such as “Order the laptop: IT” or “Welcome message: manager”. The names stay in the saved list, in the printed sheet and in the text you copy, so everyone involved can see which step is theirs.
No. It is a checklist in your browser, with no accounts, reminders or records. It is for running through the steps, not for storing employee data.
